Thanks for those thumbnail templates, Jeremy. Here's what we're doing with 'em (because having written reminders always helps me):
Board your two beats out in thumbnails for Monday, basically. Remember that
- we are trying to keep this simple and quick
- keep the horizon line around the bottom 1/3rd of the panel
- camera should feel like we're in the shot with the characters
- camera direction (hopefully Carson will post his road map soon)
- character moments; we should feel sympathetic for both the guy and the girl
- try to steer clear of predictability
- storyboard character design should be close to the Shane Lewis/Mike/Rachel designs, for consistency and clarity
The beats so far and who is working on them (feel free to correct if I don't have it quite right):
1) flower exchange [Steve, Jeremy]
2) accident (wind) puts flower in road [Steve, Jeremy, Carson]
3) girl 'dillo follows and dies [Carson, David]
4) she realizes she's a ghost; juggles flower [David, Mike]
5) guy 'dillo's grief [Mike, Morgan]
6) he sees and takes the flower to the other girl [Morgan, Jenny, Rachel]
7) girl 'dillo uses her limited windlike influence to keep the flower away from this other girl. [Jenny, Rachel]
----------
and that's all we're focusing on working out for now. Probably about 2/3 to 3/4 of the film. Let's get some good stuff done.
Also, for anyone who wants the animation notes from Dylan Brown's workshop yesterday, I'm posting it on my blog so it doesn't clutter the space for our film.
